There lived a Shepard his name was magnes.

who lived in ancient greece.he used to take his herd of sheep and goat to the nearby mountain for grazing.He would take a stitch with him having a small piece of iron attached to the stick at one end.One day he was surprised to find that he had to pull hardto free his stick from a rock on the mountain sidevit stemmed it was being attracted by the rock.The rock was a real magnet.And it attracted to the iron tip of the Shepard's stick.it is said that this is how natural magnet were discovered.such rocks are named as magnetite.magnetite contains iron.the magnetite was first discovered at the place Magnesia . the how story goes.so in now days artificial magnets are prepared.
