44% of the students of a class are girls. If the number of girls is 6 less than the number of boys, how many students are there in the class?

percentage of girls in the class is 44 %
. then the percentage of boys is 56. BECAUSE  44+56=100%.

 

So the difference is 56-44=12 % of the total.

 We are told that this 12 percent is made up of 6 students.

 

So using proportions 100 %

= 6*100

12 = 50 students in the class.
