Rounding off to the nearest Lakh is one of the questions from the chapter of rounding off.

For people who want to practice such exercises may practice from Maths count down.

Lets learn the basics first.

so we have many categories, or sections to put the numbers: for instance;

- Units (u)

0

- Tens = 10

Tens (t) Units (U)

1 0

- Hundreds = 100

Hundreds Tens Units

1 0 0

- Thousands =1,000

Thousands (Th) Hundreds (H) Tens (t) Units (U)

1 0 0 0

- Lakh = 1,00,000

Lakh(L ) (T.Th) (Th) (H) (t) (U)

1 0 0 0 0 0

- ONCE WE KN0W THAT WHERE THESE DIGITS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PLACED. LETS PLACE OUR DIGITS.

45369

T.th Th H T U

4 5 6 3 9

Ans: Now round this off, by looking at the value.

If you want to round off to nearest 10, you do this

Example: 69 ( the 9 is larger than 5 , so we will increase the total number 69 and make it 70 )

Round off to 100

Example: 369 ( 69 is larger than 50, so increase this to 100, increase 369 to make it 400)

Round off to 1000

Example: 5369 (369 is less than 500, so we will decrease it, make it 5000, by decreasing)

Round off to nearest Ten thousand

Example: 45369 (5369 , is more than 5000, so we will increase, make it 5,00,00)

Now finally, round off to nearest LAKH:

which is your questions

the answer is :

45369 after rounding off, it will be 100000

WHY? because the lowest lakh to which we can round it off to, is 1 lakh.
