48. A motorcycle is being driven at a speed of 20 m/s when brakes are applied to bring it to rest in five seconds.
The deceleration produced in this case will be :
(a) + 4 m/s2
(b) - 4 m/s2
(c) + 0.25 m/s2
(d) - 0.25 m/s2

\underline{\underline{\mathit{\huge{\purple{ AnSwEr }}}}}

\implies

Given

Initial velocity of motorcycle =20m/s

Final Velocity of motorcycle =0m/s

Time taken to come in rest =5sec.

To find

☞Deceleration of motorcycle ??

Solution

By using 1st equation of Motion

v = u + at

O =20 +a ×5

-20=a ×5

a =-20/5=-4m/s

therefore, the deceleration of body is -4m/s.

hence option( b) is correct

 Hope this helps uh☺️❤️✌️

\bf{\red{\underline{\bf{Given}}}}

  • Initial Velocity (u) = 20 m/s

  • Final Velocity (v) = 0 m/s

  • Time (t) = 5 seconds

\bf{\red{\underline{\bf{ToFind}}}}

  • Deceleration (-a)

\bf{\red{\underline{\bf{Solution}}}}

We know that,

 \implies Acceleration \:  =  \frac{Final \: velocity - Initial \: velocity}{Time \: taken}  \\  \\  \implies \: a \:  =  \frac{v - u}{t}

Put the above given values in it, We get,

 \implies \: a \:  =  \frac{0 - 20}{5}  \\  \\  \implies \: a =  \frac{ - 20}{5}  \\  \\  \implies \: a \:  =  - 4m {s}^{2}

Hence,

a = -4 m/s²

Here,

Negative sign shows deceleration

So,

Option (b) is correct.

Deceleration = -4m/s²
