Trend is measured by Four Methods:

•The four ways are:

(1) Graphic or a freehand Curve Method:

This is the simplest technique of learning trend of a time series.

(2) method of Semi Averages:

In this technique, the semi-averages are calculated to find out the trend values.

(3) method of Moving Averages:

The simplest of the mean used for the measuring of a trend is that the arithmetic means that (averages).

(4) method of Least Squares:

The least square technique is that the process of finding the best-fitting curve or line of best fit a set of information points by reducing the total of the squares of the offsets (residual part) of the points from the curve.

So, cyclical variations can't measuring of trend.
