EXPLANATION.

Graph of the equation.

⇒ 4x - 4y = 5.

As we know that,

Put the value of x = 0 in the equation, we get.

⇒ 4(0) - 4y = 5.

⇒ - 4y = 5.

⇒ 4y = - 5.

⇒ y = - 5/4.

⇒ y = - 1.25.

Their Co-ordinates = (0,-1.25).

Put the value of y = 0 in the equation, we get.

⇒ 4x - 4(0) = 5.

⇒ 4x = 5.

⇒ x = 5/4.

⇒ x = 1.25.

Their Co-ordinates = (1.25,0).

EXPLANATION

Find x-intercept

The x-intercept is where the graph crosses the x-axis. To find the x-intercept, we set y1=0 and then solve for x.

4x - 4y = 5

4x - 4(0) = 5

x1 = 1.25 y1 = 0

Find y-intercept

The y-intercept is where the graph crosses the y-axis. To find the y-intercept, we set x2=0 and then solve for y.

4x - 4y = 5

4(0) - 4y = 5

y2 = -1.25 x2 = 0

Solve for x

To solve for x, we solve the equation so the variable x is by itself on the left side:

4x - 4y = 5

x = y + 1.25

Solve for y

To solve for y, we solve the equation so the variable y is by itself on the left side:

4x - 4y = 5

y = x - 1.25

FIND SLOPE

The slope of the line (m) is the steepness of the line. It is the change in the y coordinate divided by the corresponding change in the x coordinate. Simply plug in the coordinates from above and solve for m to get the slope for 4x - 4y = 5

m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

m = (-1.25 - 0)/(0 - 1.25)

m = 1

MORE INFORMATION

To solve a system of linear equations graphically we graph both equations in the same coordinate system. The solution to the system will be in the point where the two lines intersect. .
