33x - y = 136

+ 3x + y = 8

36x = 144

x = 4

Substituting x = 4 in equation (2), We get

3 x 4 + y = 8

⇒ 12 + y = 8

⇒ y = 8 - 12

∴ Solution is x = 4 and y = - 4
