4y + 4 = 3 - 3(y + 5) \\ 4y + 4 = 3 - 3y - 15 \\ 4y  + 3y = - 4 - 12 \\ 7y =  - 16 \\ y =  -  \frac{16}{7}

pathakanju270: what is value of y
pathakanju270: I had written that ans is 8
tahseen619: I think there is mistake in question or your book answer. I am also confused how the answer became 8 ?
pathakanju270: I got it you have done half wrong I think
tahseen619: can you please tell me . where I do wrong ?
pathakanju270: 4y +4= 3-3y - 15, 4y +3y = 12-4, y=8 , have I understood right
tahseen619: -12 and 4y+3y=7y
pathakanju270: oh sorry I have written wrong in my 4 comments it should be 4y - 3y
