let the number be x

let the first part be y

and other part be y+n

ratio p/q=6/5

y/y+6=6/5(y/y+n=p/q)

5y=6y+36

5y-6y=36

y=-36

since y and y+n are two parts of x

•. x=y+y+n(n=6)

x=-36+(-36+6)

x=-36-30

x=-66
