5(6x + 1 ) = 3( -8 + x ) + 2

Distribute 5 and 3:

30x + 5 = -24 + 3x + 2

Combine like terms:

30x + 5 = -22 + 3x

Subtract 3x from both sides:

27x + 5 = -22

Subtract 5 from both sides:

27x = - 27

Divide both sides by 27

x = -1

Answer: x = -1
