5 a) A woman wearing shoes with stiletto heels weighs 550 N. The area of each stiletto heel is
1 cm. Calculate the pressure of each heel on the floor.
b) The same woman wears flat shoes with heels with an area of 10 cm? What is the pressure
on each heel now?
c) Which type of heel is less likely to damage a wooden floor? Explain why.

Answer:

force =weight=550newton

area=1cm²

pressure=force per unit area

Force/area

so one heel force or Wight=550/2(actually I don't know that whether weight is given of one shoes or of both if it is of both two shoes combinly given then we divide weight by2 other wise we will write it as same in question)

=275Newton so

a)275/1=275n/m²=275pascal

b=275/10

27.5pascal

c) flat shoes less likely to damage a wooden floor because area is increases and we know that area is inversely proportional to pressure so there is less pressure by which flat shoes is less likely to damage the wooden floor

Answer:

Part # 1 Formula of Pressure= Pressure force÷Area

weight of women shoes =550N

area of shoes= 1m²

pressure=?

Pressure=550÷1m²=550 Pa

Part # 2 Pressure=?

Pressure=force÷Area

Pressure= 550N÷1cm²=55 pa
