on cooling though the same temperature, M1 contracts more than M2. hence, thermal expansion of first metal is higher than that of 2nd metal. we know, strip will bend with the metal of greater coefficient of thermal expansion on outer side i.e., convex side. so, bimetallic strip will bend towards M2.
