5. A floor 15 m long and 12 m broad is tobe paved with square tiles of side 30 cm.Find the number of tiles required.
Answers
15m long therefore,
length ( l ) =15m
12m broad therefore,
breadth ( b ) =12m
Since the sides are different in measures it's a Rectangle.
To find the number of tiles required we have to find Area of rectangle first
Area of rectangle = l×b
=15×12
=180 sq.m
Then,we have find the area of the tiles next
The tile is square in shape therefore it has only length
l =30cm
Area of square = l×l
= 30×30
= 900 sq.cm
Now let's convert cm(centimetre) into m(metre)
= 900÷100 sq.m
= 9 sq.m
Let's use this formula
Number of tiles = Area of rectangle÷Area of tiles
=180/9
=20 tiles
