Given - d1 = 40m, t1 =5s and d2 = 80m, t2 = 5s

To Find - the average speed of the object (avg).

Solution -

The following problem can be solved using the following method/process that is as follow:

Let 'd1' and 'd2' be the distances travelled by the object after an interval of 5s.

Let 't1' and 't2' be the time taken by the object to cover the distances.

As per the given condition,

d1 = 40m, t1 =5s and d2 = 80m, t2 = 5s

To find the average speed of the object, we first need to calculate the total distance travelled by the object and the total time taken to cover the same.

Total distance travelled = d1 +d2

= 40 + 80

= 120m.......(1)

Total time taken = t1 + t2

= 5 + 5

= 10s.....(2)

Now, the average speed of the object = Total distance travelled/Total time taken

avg = 120/10.........(from 1 & 2)

avg = 12m/s

Hence, the average speed of the object is 12m/s.
