a)answer in the attachment

b) Chloroethane is converted into butane by wurtz reaction.

In wurtz reaction the alkyl halide react with sodium to form a new carbon carbon compound.

This is one of the oldest organic reaction in which 2 alkyl halides couple with sodium metal in the presence of dry Ether to form a new carbon carbon compound resulting in a symmetrical alkane.

Using wurtz reaction is the best method.

CH3-CH2-Cl + Na + Dry Ether ------> CH3-CH2-CH2-CH3 (butane)
