Although, the overall function of the cell is the same, there are some important differences between animal and plant cells. The first difference is that plant cells have an organelle called chloroplast. Chloroplasts contain a pigment called chlorophyll (which gives the plant its green color).

Plant cells have bigger vacuoles whereas animal cells have smaller vacuoles

Plant cells have plastids whereas animal cells don't have plastids.

Plant cells have cell wall whereas animal cells do not have 
 
Plant cells are rectangular and have a fixed shape whereas animal cells 
are generally round and have irregular shapes.

Lysosomes are present in animal cells whereas not generally in plant cells
