Answer:

Quantum numbers are important because they can be used to determine the electron configuration of an atom and the probable location of the atom's electrons. The magnetic quantum number, ml, describes the energy levels in a subshell, and ms refers to the spin on the electron, which can either be up or down.

Answer:

1)Principal quantum number :here we study about orbit no of atoms.

denoted by ‘n’. For k-shell, n=1,for L-shell, n=2.

2) Azimuthal quantum number : here we study about suborbit numbers of atoms.

denoted by ‘ l’. For s-subshell, l=0, For p-subshell, l=1

3)spin quantum number : here we study about spin of electron. In an orbital two electrons appear in opposite spin. If single electron present then spin value is +or- 1/2. But if they are in pairs then its 0.

It is denoted by ‘s’.

4) Magnetic quantum number : here we study about the magnetic behaviour of atoms. denoted by ‘m’ and depends upon Azimuthal quantum numbers.

As l=0, m=0. l=1, m=-1,0,+1. l=2,m=-2,-1,0,+1,+2.

Quantum numbers are important because they can be used to determine the electron configuration of an atom and the probable location of the atom's electrons. Quantum numbers are also used to determine other characteristics of atoms, such as ionization energy and the atomic radius.
