1. The sentence simply means that if we want something then, there are so many ways to achieve that thing...it is our will power that takes us to our goals of life...if we very early think that the difficulties are not easy to overcome then, we won't be able to move forward...but, in contrast if we think we will go successfully through the difficulties then, we will definitely proceed.

You can add more ideas of yours on the basis of above.

2. The sentence simply means that our willingness to not give up and use of our experiences and knowledge to come out from problems..for example if you didn't get good marks then, you can improve by using the knowledge you have, by correcting the mistakes previously done...instead of giving up and feeling low...you should be strong for good use of the next chance...

Both these sentences almost mean the same..through examples from your own life...you can explain very well.
