- There are two coastal plains in India, Western coast in the west and Eastern coast in the east.
- The western coast runs along the western ghats and Arabian sea.
- The western coast has three sections - Konkan, Kannad plain and the Malabar coast.
- The eastern coast is aalong the bay of bengal and is wide and level.
- It is divided into two sections- Northern Circar and Coromandal coast.
