= Since, first 4 is at hundreds place and other at unit;s place, thus -

= 400 - 4

= 396

(b) two sevens in 17,479.

= Since, first 7 is at thousands place and other at tens place, thus -

= 7000 - 70

= 6930

(b)  two eights in 8,90,853.

= Since, first 8 is at lacs place and other at hundreds place, thus -

= 8,00,000 - 800

= 7,99,200
