Given :

  • Radius of a circular sheet = 4 cm
  • A circle of radius 3 cm is removed from the sheet

To find :

  • Area of the remaining sheet

Concept Used :

→ Formula to calculate area of circle :-

  • Area of circle = πr²

where,

  • Take π = 3.14
  • r = radius of the circle

To find the area of remaining sheet :-

  • Firstly, find the area of the circular sheet.
  • Then find the area of the circle removed from the circular sheet.
  • To find the area of the remaining sheet subtract the area of the circle from the area of circular sheet. The resultant value will be the required answer.

Let's do it. →

⠀⠀⠀━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━⠀⠀⠀

Solution :

Area of the circular sheet :-

⠀⠀⠀⇒ Area = πr²

⠀⠀⠀⇒ Area = 3.14 × 4 × 4

⠀⠀⠀⇒ Area = 50.24

Area of the circular sheet = 50.24 cm²

Area of the circle removed :-

⠀⠀⠀⇒ Area = πr²

⠀⠀⠀⇒ Area = 3.14 × 3 × 3

⠀⠀⠀⇒ Area = 28.26

Area of the circle removed = 28.26 cm²

Area of the remaining sheet = Area of the circular sheet - Area of the circle removed

⠀⠀⠀⇒ Remaining area = 50.24 - 28.26

⠀⠀⠀⇒ Remaining area = 21.98

Area of the remaining sheet = 21.98 cm²
