How can we become a strong nation?
Work for the future. It takes a few years to understand how that works but when that future arrives it makes perfect sense. People living today have no experience with this because humanity in general abandoned the idea of a survivable future in the middle of the 20th Century and began living for today because the future may never come.
This is not necessarily a terrible idea for an individual’s personal life, because you know, we can die at any moment. But when this thinking is carried to the future of humanity it will result in the failure of the future of humanity.
I don’t think it’s possible for a lot of the older people who lived through the cold war to change. They came of age believing an earth ending war was inevitable. They haven’t ever been able to take reality seriously because of it, everything is a joke to them, a lie, a manipulation, a game.
It’s up to the young people to get past them somehow but it’s not easy because these are the parents, grand and great-grand parents of everyone out there. We’re supposed to listen to them but the last fifty years of their rule has been a massive mess of denial and confusion taking us nowhere. Stop doing that.
