5. I finished my poem, and it was beautiful! It
was about a mother duck and a father swan
with three baby ducklings who were bitten
to death by the father because they quacked
too much. Luckily, Mr Keesing took the joke
the right way. He read the poem to the class,
adding his own comments, and to several
other classes as well.
) On what topic did Anne write the
poem ?
(ii) What was the poem about ?
(iii) Who did the father in Anne's poem
signify?
(iv) What tells you that Mr Keesing was not
"an old fogey' as Anne would describe
him?

Explanation:

  • Poets are those who write poetry. Poets may self-identify as such or may receive such a description from others. A poet may merely be the person who thinks up, writes, sings, or otherwise composes poems (oral or written), or they may also perform their art in front of an audience.
  • A poet's task is fundamentally one of communication, in which ideas are expressed symbolically or literally (for example, by talking about a particular place or incident). Since the dawn of time, poets have created works in almost every language that reflect the wide variety of civilizations and historical times they have lived in.
  • Throughout each civilization and language, poets have used various styles that have changed over time, resulting in countless poets as diverse as the literature that they have produced.
