5.If a and B are zeroes of the polynomial x? - a(x + 1) - b such that (a + 1) (3 + 1) = 0, find
the value of b​

Now we know that if α and β are zeroes of polynomial x²-a(x+1)-b then

α+β=a and αβ=(-a-b)

Now (α+1)*(β+1)=0

this means

αβ+(α+β)+1=0

Now substituting value of αβ and α+β from above we get

(a)+(-a-b)+1=0

= a-a-b+1=0

Cancelling a so

b=1 (Ans)
