5. Corolla is the whorl of the flower which attracts insects for pollination. It is the second whorl of the flower. It is formed of five or more brightly coloured petals which attract insects , birds are mammals for pollination of flower.

6. A stem is a part of a plant that conducts food and water to different parts of a plant.

Transport system is formed of specialised conducting tissues in which pipe like cells are arranged end to end their run from the tips of the roots to the tips of leaves passing through the stem in leaves it is located in midrib and its branches they are of two types : Xylem and Pholem.

Xylem --- It Conducts water and minerals absorbed by roots to another parts of the plants.

Pholem --- It transport organic food manufactured by leaves to all other parts of the plant.

4. The Spines protects the plants from the herbivorous animal or any living creatures.

Some plants having spines are : cactus , rose and many more.

D.1. The difference between herbs and shrubs are:-

Herbs

  1. Herbs are small plants that can be easily uprooted from soil.
  2. Examples:- rice , wheat are some examples
  3. These type of plants have soft stem.
  4. Herbs are smaller than compared to shrubs.
  5. They have thin tissue.
  6. Herbs have less strength compare to shurbs.
  7. Herbs have few branches.

Shurbs

  1. Shurbs are medium-sized plants that cannot be uprooted from soil easily
  2. Examples:- Guava , Rose are some examples.
  3. These type of plants have woody stem.
  4. Shurbs are taller than compared to shrubs.
  5. They have woody tissue.
  6. Shurbs have more strength compare to shurbs.
  7. Shurbs have multiple branches.

D.2. The difference between tap root and fibrous root.

Tap Root

  1. Tap root system is mostly found in dicotyledonous plants.
  2. It occupies a more surface.
  3. The most common examples are carrot , beetroot , radish which stores food.
  4. The roots of tap root system are thicker than the fibrous root.
  5. A single plant has only one tap root.
  6. These type of roots are always underground.
  7. A Tap root can endure drought conditions.

Fibrous Root

  1. Tap root system is mostly found in monocotyledons plants.
  2. It occupies less surface.
  3. The most common examples are wheat , grass which doesn't stores food.
  4. The roots of fibrous root system are thicker than the fibrous root.
  5. A single plant has multiple fibrous root.
  6. These type of roots are underground or aerial.
  7. A Fibrous root cannot endure drought conditions.

D.3. Fertilisation - The fusion of a male gamete with the female gamete is called fertilization . On reaching the stigma the pollen grains grows into a thin pollen tube which extends through the style reaches to ovary and enters the ovule.

D.4. Pollen grains helps in pollination. In various agents of pollination like:-

Pollination by insects

In this type of pollination, pollen grains are sticky

Pollination by Water

In this type of pollination pollen grains are are produced in large number and very light , so that they can float in water.

Pollination by wind:

In this type of pollination by wind produce small dry and light pollen grains in large number to be carried away by wind.

Pollen grains are the male gametes they are formed in an anther sac.

Sugarcane , Potato , Ginger , Rhizome , etc.
