Step-by-step explanation:

suppose pencils=x,pens=y

5x+7y=50 (1)

7x+5y=46 (2)

multiply equation1 with 7 and equation 2 with5

35x+49y=350

35x+25y=230

subtract both eq

therefore we got

24y=120

y=120/24

y=5 put these value of y in equation 1

5x+7(5)=50

5x+35=50

5x=15

x=15/5

x=3

ANS=X=ONE PENCILS=₹3

Y=ONE PEN=₹5

Answer:

□cost of one pen=5 ✔✔

□cost of one pencil=3✔✔

Step-by-step explanation:

\huge{\boxed{\sf{SOLUTION-}}}

let \: pencil = x \\ pen = y \\ according \: to \: question \\ 5x + 7y = 50  \\ 5x = 50 - 7y \\x =  \frac{50 - 7y}{5}   -  -  -  -  -  - (1) \\ 7x + 5y = 46 \\ putting \: value \: of \: x \\ 7 \times  \frac{50 - 7y}{5} + 5y = 46 \\ 350 - 49y + 25y = 230 \\  - 24y = 230 - 350 \\  y =  \frac{ - 120}{ - 24 }  \\  y = 5 \\ putting \: value \: of \: y \: in \: (1) \\ x =  \frac{50 - 7 \times 5}{5}  \\ x =   \frac{15}{5}  \\ x = 3
