3 : 8 is  ratio of total area of triangle PFQ and triangle FER to area of rectangle PQRS

Step-by-step explanation:

E is mid point of SR

PF = FR => F is mid point of PR

ΔFER ≈ ΔPSR

ER/SR = 1/2

Area of  ΔFER = (1/2)² Area of ΔPSR

=> Area of  ΔFER = Area of ΔPSR/4

area of Δ PSR = area of ΔPQR = area of PQRS/2

=>  Area of  ΔFER = Area of PQRS/8

QF is median of ΔPQR

=> Area of Δ PQF = area of ΔPQR/2

=>  Area of Δ PQF = area of PQRS/4

Area of  ΔFER + Area of Δ PQF = Area of PQRS/8 + Area of PQRS/4

= 3Area of PQRS/8

=>  (Area of  ΔFER + Area of Δ PQF )/Area of PQRS  = 3/8

3 : 8 is  ratio of total area of triangle PFQ and triangle FER to area of rectangle PQRS
