Pets are good to have because it's been proven that even if you live alone, if you have a pet, you aren't as lonely.  Also, pets also help wih exercise (pets such as dogs).  Also, when you stroke your pet, you actuslly lower your blood pressure.  So, when you have a pet, your blood pressure goes down, your breathing becomes normal (if it was off track), you become less stressed and your muscle tension is relaxed.  Therefore, having a pet is a good idea for people.
