equation y = 1970(0.99) *represents the value, y, of one account that was left inactive for a period
of r years, What is the y-intercept of this equation and what does it represent?
@ 1970,
1970, the amount of money in the account initially
(2) 1970, the amount of money in the account after x years

Given :  y = 1970 (0.99)ˣ

To Find : y-intercept of this equation and what does it represent

1970, the amount of money in the account initially

(2) 1970, the amount of money in the account after x years

(3) 0.99, the percent of money in the account initially

(4) 0.99, the percent of money in the account after x years

Solution:

y = 1970 (0.99)ˣ

y intercept is  where it cut y axis

Hence  x axis must be 0

so x = 0

=> y = 1970 (0.99)⁰

=> y = 1970 (1)

=> y = 1970

Hence  at r = 0 amount wad 1970

So Amount initially was   1970

y intercept = 1970

1970, the amount of money in the account initially
