5. The HCF and LCM of two numbers are 25 and 5525 respectively. If one of
the numbers is 325, find the other number

To find:

• Other number = ?

Solution:

Apply the formula:

HCF × LCM = Product of 2 numbers

Plug in the known values and find out the unknown value.

Now we have;

25 × 5525 = 325 × y

Where

★ The unknown number is y.

⇢ 325y = 5525 × 25

➜ y = (5525 × 25) ÷ 325

➳ y = 425

∴ The value of other number = 425

• The used formula is applicable only for 2 numbers and not 3 or 4 numbers.
