5. The hypotenuse of a right triangle is 1 m longer than the
longer leg. The shorter leg is 7 m shorter than the longer leg

then hypotenuse= 1m+x

shorter leg = x-7m

According to Pythagoras theorem

x^2+(x-7)^2= (1+x)^2

=→ x^2+x^2-49= 1+x^2

=→ 2x^2-49 = 1+x^2

=→ 2x^2-x^2 = 1+49

=→ x^2 = 50

=→ x = √50

=→ x = 7.07

so longer side 7.07m

Hypotenuse= 1m +x

= 1m + 7.07

= 8.07
