Answer:

The lion capital, also known as the national of Emblem of India, or the Asoka Column is kept in the Sarnath Museum, Uttar Pradesh. This capital was originally placed on the Asoka pillar in around 250BCE. Sarnath is an important Buddhist centre and because of Asoka's later inclination towards Buddhism, the capital was placed at Sarnath during his reign.
