ANSWER:

Given:

  • Ratio of Devesh's monthly income to expenditure = 7 : 3
  • Ratio of Amit's monthly income to expenditure = 5 : 2
  • 8% of Amit's income = 15% of Devesh's income.
  • Monthly income of Amit = Rs. 12600

To Find:

  • Devesh's monthly income and savings.

Solution:

Let Devesh's monthly income and expenditure be 7x and 3x respectively and Amit's monthly income and expenditure be 5y and 2y respectively.

But,

⇒ Amit's monthly income = Rs 12600

\\

Also,

⇒ 8% of Amit's income = 15% of Devesh's income

⇒ 8% of 12600 = 15% of 7x

⇒ 8/100 * 12600 = 15/100 * 7x

⇒ 8 * 126 = (7x*15)/100

⇒ 1008 * 100 = 105x

⇒ 100800/105 = x

⇒ x = 960 -----(1)

\\

So,

⇒ Devesh's monthly income = 7x = 7*960 = Rs 6720

Savings = Income - Expenditure

⇒ Devesh's savings = 7x - 3x = 4x = 4*960 = Rs 3840

Hence,

Devesh's monthly income and savings are Rs 6720 and Rs 3840 respectively.
