5 To cross-roads each of width 5 m run at right angles through the centre of a rectangular park 70 m
by 50 m, such that each is parallel to one of the sides of the park. Find the area of the remaining portion
of the park.​

let the common part of both path PQRS

find the area of one path=5*70=350m^2

find the area of second path=5*50=250m^2

find the area of common= 5*5=25m^2

area of the path=area of ABCD+area of EFGH-area of PQRS

=350+250-25=575m^2

thus, the area of the path is 575m^2

Area of rectangular park=30*20=600m^2

remaining portion=area of park - area of path

= 600-575= 25m^2

thus, the remaining portion is 25m^2
