5(x – 1) – 2(x + 8) = 0

5x-5 -2x-16 = 0

3x-21 = 0

3x = 21

x = 21/3

x = 7

Hope it helps

GIVEN:-

5(x-1)-2(x+8)=0

SOLUTION:-

It is linear equation in one variable.

=> 5(x-1)-2(x+8)=0

=> 5x-5 -2x-16 = 0

=> 5x - 2x -5 -16 = 0

=> 3x - 21 = 0

=> 3x = 21

=> x =(21/3)

=> x = 7.

Therefore, we get x = 7 by soving above linear equation.

Some important rules,

(+) × (+) = (+)

(+) × (-) = (-)

(-) × (-) = (+)

(-) × (+) = (-)

short trick

same sign = (+)

opposite sign = (-)

THANKS.
