Given that,

5 years, ago Nuri was thrice as old as Sonu.

5 years ago,

Age of Sonu = x - 5

Age of Nuri = y - 5

According to the question :-

⟶ y - 5 = 3(x - 5)

⟶ y - 5 = 3x - 15

⟶ 3x - y = 10 ..........eq(1)

Again, it's given that

Ten years later, Nuri will be twice as sonu.

10 years later,

Age if sonu = x + 10

Age of Nuri = y + 10

According to the given condition :-

⟶ y + 10 = 2(x + 10)

⟶ y + 10 = 2x + 20

⟶ y - 2x = 10 ......eq(2)

Now, find the value of y from eq (1)

⟶ 3 x - y = 10

⟶ - y = 10 - 3x

⟶ y = 3x - 10.......... eq(3)

After that, put y = 3x -10 in eq(2)

⟶ y - 2x = 10

⟶ 3x - 10 - 2x = 10

⟶ x - 10 = 10

⟶ x = 20

Again, put the value of x in eq(3)

⟶ y = 3x - 10

⟶ y = 3 × 20 - 10

⟶ y = 60 - 10

⟶ y = 50

Hence, the present age of Sonu is = 20 years.

Present age of Nuri is = 50 years.
