Radius of each circular plate = 10.5 cm

Thickness of each plate = 1.6 cm

25 plates are placed one above the other to form a solid circular cylinder

∴ height of the cylinder formed, h = 25 × 1.6 cm = 40 cm.

Total curved surface area of the cylinder = 2πrh.

= 2 \times \frac{22}{7} \times 10.5 \times 40=

=2640 cm^2

Volume of cylinder = π r^2 h

= π (10.5)^2 × 40

Answer:

The curved surface area of a solid cylinder is 4950 cm² and the volume is 25987.5 cm³.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Diameter(D) of solid cylinder = 21 cm

Radius(R) of solid cylinder = 21/2 cm

The height(H) of a solid cylinder = thickness of plate × no. of plates

H = 1.5 × 50 = 75 cm

(i) The curved surface area (CSA) of a cylinder = 2πRH

⇒ CSA = 2 × 22/7 × 21/2 × 75

⇒ CSA = 66 × 75

⇒ CSA = 4950 cm²

(ii) The volume(V) of a cylinder = πR²H

⇒ V = 22/7 × (21/2)² × 75

V = 25987.5 cm³

Hence, the curved surface area of a solid cylinder is 4950 cm² and the volume is 25987.5 cm³.
