Given,x+y=50
x and y are the 2 parts of 50
Thus,x+y=50
x=50-y.................(i)
and, y=50-x

given,1/x+1/y=1/12
LCM=xy
(y+x)/xy=1/12
from (i)
(y+50-y)/[(50-y)y]=1/12
50/[50y-y^2]=1/12
1/[50y-y^2]=1/12*50
1/[50y-y^2]=1/600
by cross multiplication
50y-y^2=600
50y=600+y^2
0=[600+y^2]/50y
0=[50(12+y^2)]/50y
0=[12+y^2]/50y
0x50y=12+y^2
0=12+y^2
-y^2=12
y^2=-12
y=square root of 12
