reflection is when a light strikes at smooth surface and returns back is called reflection.

for example a mirror.

refraction is that phenomenon in which when the light strikes on the surface goes suffering the inside of the surface is called refraction.

Refraction is the change in the direction of path of light when it passes from one optically transparent medium to another.
