QUESTION :-

In an examination 2000 students appeared out of which 800 were girls. If 80℅ of the girls and 70℅ of boys passed the examination. Find the percentage of students who failed the examination

Given :

  • The appearance of students in the exam = 2000

  • Number of girls = 800

  • Students passes the exam = 80℅ of girls and 70% boys.

To find :

The Percentage of the students who failed in the examination

SOLUTION :-

The Number of boys in exam = Total students - Number of girls

=> 2000 - 800

=> 1200

.°. The Number of boys = 1200

Here,

The Number of girls who passed the examination

=> 800 × 80 ÷ 100

=> 640

The Number of boys who passed the examination

=> 1200 × 70 ÷ 100

=> 840

Now, we want to find the total candidates who passed the exam.

Total number of students who passed the examination = Total number of girls who passed the examination + Total number of boy who passed the examination.

=> 640 + 840

=> 1480

The Number of students who failed in the examination = Total number of students - Total number of students who passed the examination

=> 2000 - 1480

=> 580

Now, finding the Percentage the students who failed in the examination

The Percentage of students who failed in the examination × 100 ÷ Total number of students

=> 520 × 100 ÷ 2000

=> 26

.°. The Percentage of students who failed in the examination = 26
