54×10100= Rs. 5.4

New price/apple =5.410 = Rs. 0.54

New price/dozen = 12×.54

24 min = 0.4 hr, we’ll use that for convenience.

When going with the current the boat moves at (8+2) or 10 km/hr. When going against the current the boat moves at (8-2) or 6 km/hr.

Let the distance covered each way be x km. So the total time (hr) taken is

(x/10) +(x/6) = 0.4, or

6x + 10x = 0.4*10*6 = 24, or

16x = 24, or

x = 1.5 km. Answer at (A) is right.
