594= 252*2+48

252= 48*2+ 12

= 48= 12*4+0

so,hcf= 12

just use Euclid's division lemma

a = bx + r ...( B > r )

594= 252*2+48

252= 48*2+ 12

= 48= 12*4+0

12 divided it with no r remaining

hence 12 is the hcf.
