Answer:

The value of p is 1/3 and the value of q is 1/3

Step-by-step explanation:

Given ::- 5p + q = 2

              6p - 3q = 1

Solution ::-

             [6p -3q = 1] 1

             [5p + q = 2] 3

Therefore,    6p - 3q = 1  ......... 1

                      15p + 3q = 6...........2

By elimination method,

Adding 1 and 2  , we get,

           15p + 3q = 6

            6p - 3q  = 1

          ----------------------

    ∴     21p + 0  = 7

 So,     p = 7/21

           p  = 1/3

Now, putting the value of p in equation 1 , we get

                 6p - 3q = 1

                6(1/3) - 3q = 1

                     2- 3q = 1

                          3q = 2-1

                            q = 1/3

Therefore, the value of p is 1/3  and the value of q is 1/3

Solution set - (p,q) = (1/3 , 1/3)
