Linear equation in two variables to satisfy this statement is :-

Five times x = 5x

∴ Sum of five times x and y = 5xy

Eight times y = 8y

By the given condition,

5x + y = 8y + 5

5x + y - 8y = 8y + 5 - 8y  [By Subtracting 8y From Both Side]

5x - 7y = 5
