5x+2y=8
y=(8-5x)÷2. ------(1)
putting (1) in equation 2
3x-5{(8-5x)÷2}=11
3x-(40-25x)÷2=11
(6x÷2)-{(40-25x)÷2}=11
6x-40+25x=22
31x-40=22
31x=22+40
31x=62
dividing both sides by 2
x=2
putting that in (1)
y=(8-5x)÷2
y=8-10÷2
y=-1
thus
y=-1 ; x=2
y=(8-5x)÷2. ------(1)
putting (1) in equation 2
3x-5{(8-5x)÷2}=11
3x-(40-25x)÷2=11
(6x÷2)-{(40-25x)÷2}=11
6x-40+25x=22
31x-40=22
31x=22+40
31x=62
dividing both sides by 2
x=2
putting that in (1)
y=(8-5x)÷2
y=8-10÷2
y=-1
thus
y=-1 ; x=2
