Answer:

5x +3y= 35

x+2y= 14

35= 14-2y

35= 5[14-2y] +3y

35= 70-10y+3y

35=70-7y

70-35=7y

y= 5

x+2[5] =14

x=4

Given:-

5x + 3y = 35 ....................... equation (1)

2x+ 4y = 28 ........................ equation (2)

Multiply equation (1) by 2

Multiply equation (1) by 2Multiply equation (2) by 5

Equation (1) × 2

= (5x + 3y) × 2 = 35×2

= 10x + 6y = 70 ............... (3)

Equation (2) × 5

= (2x + 4y) × 5 = 28×5

= 10x + 20y = 140 .............. (4)

Subtract (3) from (4)

(10x +20y) - (10x +6y) = 140 - 70

14y = 70

y = 70 / 14

y = 5

From equation (2)

2x + 4y = 28

2x + 20 = 28

2x = 20 - 20 = 8

x = 8/2

x = 4
