5x+8=19y
3x-4=7y
5x-19y=-8.........1
3x-7y=4..........2
multiply eq. 1 by 3 and eq. 2 by 5
we get,
15x-95y=-40......3
15x-35y=20........4
subtract eq. 4 by 3
-60y=-20
y=-20/-60
y=3
substitute value of y in eq 2
3x-7y=4
3x-7(3)=4
3x-21=4
3(x-7)=4
x-7=4/3
x=4/3+7
x=8
done.
