Hi ,
Compare 5x² + 13x + 8 = 0 with ax²+bx+c=0
we get
a = 5 , b = 13 , c = 8
discreaminant ( D ) = b² - 4ac
D = 13² - 4 × 5 × 8
= 169 - 160
= 9
By using Quadratic formula ,
x = [ ( - b ) ± √D ]/2a
= [ ( - 13 ) ± √9 ]/( 2 × 5 )
= ( -13 ± 3 )/10
Therefore ,
x = ( -13 + 3 )/10 or x = ( -13 - 3 )/10
x = 1 or x = -8/5
I hope this helps you.
