Solution :

Given two expressions are

First expression = -5xy-8x-9,

Second expression = 7xy-7x+6

i ) Subtracting second expression

from first expression ,

-5xy - 8x - 9 - ( 7xy - 7x + 6 )

= -5xy - 8x - 9 - 7xy + 7x - 6

= -8x + 7x - 5xy - 7xy - 9 - 6

= ( -8 + 7 )x + ( -5 - 7 )xy - 15

= -x - 12xy - 15

ii ) Subtracting first expression from

second expression , we get

7xy - 7x + 6 - ( -5xy - 8x - 9 )

= 7xy - 7x + 6 + 5xy + 8x + 9

= -7x + 8x + 7xy + 5xy + 6 + 9

= ( -7 + 8 )x + ( 7 + 5 )xy + 15

= x + 12xy + 15
