1. Epidermal cells.

2. Function of cuticle is that it covers the aerial epidermis of all land plants, providing protection against desiccation and external environmental stresses.

3.There are small openings on the lower surface of the leaves. These pores are called stomata.

4. The guard cells control the opening and the closing of the stomata. The guard cells are bean-shaped in dicots and -bell shaped in monocots. The inner wall of the guard cell is thick whereas the outer wall is thin.
